Project Description

This project constructs a new pump house and control room with five 600 gpm, 125hp pumps and associated filter separators, Bay Associates pump control panel, product recovery tank, 12 inch supply and return hydrant loop our to the apron, 12 new hydrant pits on the apron, MCC, standby generator, cathodic protection system and grounding system. The project also refurbishes two existing 50,000 barrel storage tanks with associated controls and telemetering systems.

Electrical work consisted of installation, startup and commissioning of one Prolec 500kVA, 11.5kV to 480V pad transformer, one GE 1200A, 480V motor control center, one 100A, 480V panelboard, one 225A, 208V panelboard, one 30kVA dry transformer, one CAT 500kW standby generator fueled with jet fuel, miscellaneous support system pumps, one 100 foot deep well anode with rectifier, various cathodic protection test stations at the apron, an emergency fuel shutdown system, a jet fuel leak detection system, class 1 division 1 group D electrical apparatus inside the pump house, new Bay Associates pump control panel, new fiberoptic link to remote monitoring facility and new underground connections to existing 11.5kV system.

Lewis Electric self performed and is overall responsible for all project electrical work and coordination with other trades, the prime contractor and subcontractors. Lewis Electric onsite electrical superintendant is Fabian Africano who managed an electrical crew of up to 6 journeyman electricians, electrical apprentices and technician specialists.
