Project Description

The Hot Cargo Pads project was built to satisfy the increasing demands of supporting the Stryker Brigade. The facility was constructed to accommodate the increased demand of loading C-17 aircraft with munitions. The original single pad was replaced with three new pcc concrete pads and additional taxiway tie-ins to the existing Honolulu International Airport Taxiway-Bravo.

The inspectors Building included 8" CMU walls, pre-engineered steel trusses, standing seam roofing and fascia, metal soffit with vent, custom insulated aluminum frame windows, drop in acoustical and drywall ceilings, custom plastic laminate counter tops, VCT flooring and the building included a analog/addressable interior fire alarm system.

The new water system included 1,800 lf of 8 inch and 210 lf of 6 inch PVC pipe with all metal components protected against corrosion by a passive cathodic protection system.

The underground electrical system included 8,000 lf of electrical power and lighting duct banks. The project included installation and commissioning of eight 75 foot floodlights, two 60 foot floodlights, three 38 foot MSA floodlights, 164 new taxi way lights, 34 retrofit taxiway lights and 9 taxiway signs.

Lewis Electric self performed and is overall responsible for all project electrical work and coordination with other trades, the prime contractor and subcontractors. Lewis Electric onsite electrical superintendant was Zach Stafford who managed an electrical crew of up to 10 journeyman electricians, electrical apprentices and technician specialists.
