Project Description
The work includes modifications to dry-dock electrical systems, including modifications and additions of switchgear to indoor substations, replacement of portable outdoor substations, replacement of bare electrical bus connections with electrical cable receptacles, providing tunnels to enable utility connections without crossing crane rails. The project requires several scheduled power outages.
Buddy Bond of Lewis Electrical, LLC in charge of ordering, installing, all layout and scheduling of electrical components for the Dry-dock Electrical Upgrades Projects at the U.S. Naval Base, Pearl Harbor Hawaii
Also included was the installation and commissioning of two 15kV, 1200A switchgear cubicles added onto the ends of an existing switchgear lineup at Station TD.
Lewis Electric self performed and is overall responsible for all project electrical work and coordination with other trades, the prime contractor and subcontractors. Lewis Electric onsite electrical superintendant was Lee Lewis who managed an electrical crew of up to 10 journeyman electricians, electrical apprentices and technician specialists.
