Project Description
The work includes construction of a new 43,150 square foot facility with elevated equipment and work platforms. The facility shall be a single story structure to support the fuel cell maintenance and repair functions for C-17 aircraft, and will consist of a hanger area/nose dock and aircraft fuel system maintenance shop at the C-17 bed down area at Hickam Air Force Base, Hawaii.
Project fire protection systems involve fire alarm equipment with mass notification capability capable of notifying the Base Fire Department with equipment proving means to control fires at the C-17 Fuel Maintenance Nose Dock Hanger. Fire protections systems include fire sprinkling systems, high expansion foam systems, fire alarm control and fire alarm transmitting systems,
Electrical work includes installation, startup and commissioning of one 17kV, 600A fused S&C PME-6 pad mounted interrupter switch, one Prolec 750kVA, 11.5kV to 480/277V pad transformer, one CAT 300kW 480V engine generator, one GE 1200A, 480V main switchboard, one 800A, 480V GE Zenith automatic transfer switch, one GE 800A, 480V Distribution panel, one GE 400A, 480V panel board, two GE 225A, 480V panel boards, one GE 100A, 480V panel board, one 225A, 208V panel board, three GE 100A, 208V panel boards, one 45kVA dry transformer, one 30kVA dry transformer, one 50kVA, 208V, 400Hz portable power supply, four overhead boom hoists and one bridge crane.
Lewis Electric self performed and is overall responsible for all project electrical work and coordination with other trades, the prime contractor and subcontractors. Lewis Electric onsite electrical superintendant is Fabian Africano who managed an electrical crew of up to 10 journeyman electricians, electrical apprentices and technician specialists.
